It's my first pole class, how should I prepare?

First, Congrats on taking the leap! To prepare for pole class one should avoid lotion 12-24hours before class but please wear deodorant. Be sure not to wear any jewelry to class. Bring water to stay hydrated & a small sweat rag. For your first class, since you wont be doing extraordinary moves, short sleeve or sleeveless top and shorts or capris leggings would work. Keep in mind as you move up in level of difficulty, pole dancing requires lots of skin contact so you'll most likely be wearing less as you go.

What are some health benefits of Pole dancing?

Some benefits are Increased flexibility, improved balance & coordination. Improved sleep quality & some weight loss. Your cardiovascular health & mental health could also be improved by pole fitness. Endorphins are released when we exercise & that has been proven to reduce stress & anxiety. With the combination of mental stimulation, positive physical appearance changes & improved health, your self esteem will skyrocket!

Do I have to be strong or in shape to take a pole class? Will I get hurt or fall on my head in pole class?

Short answer, NO. Everyone has to start from scratch training their muscles specifically for pole. Doesn't matter your age, weight or fitness level. Our classes are split into designated levels that will gradually increase your endurance, strength and pole abilities. Remember to be patient with your body and enjoy the little progresses just as much as the big ones! As far as getting hurt, plan on a few minor bruises & new calluses on your hands. It happens to all of us & as you progress in pole your skin will adjust & you wont feel as much discomfort as you did before. Newbies & Beginner 1 Pole don't incorporate any inverted(upside-down) moves, so no you wont fall on your head. Each instructor is highly trained in the levels they teach & safety is top priority. Even with great prep sometimes accidental falls do happen. Don't let that scare you, even professionals fall sometimes! Get up & keep going!
